{"id":794,"date":"2015-06-22T20:00:26","date_gmt":"2015-06-22T19:00:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.marshflattsfarm.org.uk\/wordpress\/?p=794"},"modified":"2015-06-28T22:16:26","modified_gmt":"2015-06-28T21:16:26","slug":"main-contractor-appointed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.marshflattsfarm.org.uk\/wordpress\/?p=794","title":{"rendered":"Main Contractor Appointed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After much discussion with the contractors on my shortlist, following up their references and refining the specification for the house in order to fit within my budget I have finally decided on a Main Contractor for the build phase &#8211; Steve Yardley and the team from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.burtonbuildingsolutions.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">Burton Building Solutions<\/a>. As with all good contractors they&#8217;re\u00a0booked up for\u00a0the next\u00a0few months but they&#8217;re forecasting being ready to start work on site before the end of September.<\/p>\n<p>My main reasons for choosing this particular contractor were:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>They&#8217;re pretty local and\u00a0work with a good team of local subcontractors. They also know the local Building Control and Planning people.<\/li>\n<li>They impressed me with their attention to detail throughout the tender process. I&#8217;m confident they have quoted for <em>exactly<\/em> what I asked for and they won&#8217;t substitute items without prior agreement.<\/li>\n<li>They have a proven track record of delivering Passivhaus levels of performance, especially with regard to Air Tightness which is particularly sensitive to the quality of the\u00a0on-site workmanship.
