With some significant rain over recent days, the pond is filling up nicely. Probably only another 100 – 150mm to go before it can be considered ‘full’.

Update 2025-04-10
It’s been a very dry March and the pond is now almost empty, with just a small puddle at the far side. There’s some rain forecast in the next few days so it will be interesting to see if that’s enough to create some standing water again.

The pond had its 3-month check today, which concluded that it’s holding water well and doesn’t need any repair work. The level had dropped around 100mm from the peak on 6th January – but there’s been little rain for a few weeks, so there will have been some evaporation (and infiltration).
It’s officially A Good Thing that the water level varies, since that alternately exposes and then covers the gently-sloping edges, which helps marginal plants establish.
