Week 64, Day 1:
- The first time-lapse camera (south-east of the house) is now distinctly unhappy and won’t even reset when turned off and on again
- I suspect it might be a problem with the 100-or-so metres of cable rather than the camera itself
- The cable terminates at the static caravan which will be a problem when that goes away, so the useful life of the camera is limited anyway – plus it’s pretty much caught all of the building work that it’s going to
- I’m therefore going to switch the daily updates to the second camera (north-west of the house) which is well-placed to catch the remaining external work – although it’s attached to the caravan so will have to move at some point too
- The main problem with this second camera is that it gets blinded by the sun at certain times of day, though that’s not a problem today
- The first camera seems to work sporadically so maybe it will grab the odd photo; if not I’ll try re-cabling it to get some more photos before I dismantle it
- Both cameras are destined to move onto the house, facing outwards, for security monitoring, once the building work is finished
- The main building work today was the replacement of the retaining screws for the roof windows, which required the construction of a temporary scaffold tower to gain access; see the second photo below
- Some additional cedar cladding boards were delivered for the door canopies and their wind-breaks
