Outbuildings: Week 3, Day 3

Outbuildings: Week 3, Day 3

The main task today was removing the excess soil from between the foundation trenches, to make room for the compacted stone, underfloor insulation and floor slab concrete to be added later. This soil had been intentionally left in place before.

A JCB telehandler was delivered to be used for unloading delivery vehicles and moving materials around the site.

There was also a delivery of engineering bricks and ready-mixed mortar for the walls below DPC, to be supplemented by a lorry load of concrete blocks expected tomorrow.

A successful day pouring the concrete to fill the foundation trenches – despite it being the first day with significant rain since work started. A Putzmeister 38-5 concrete pump with a 32 metre boom did a good job of reaching the far side of the site and the concrete plant and delivery drivers did a decent job of getting 9 lorry-loads to site reasonably well spaced-out between 08:30 and 14:00.
