Good progress with the concrete blockwork walls. Five courses is as high as they’re going for now (they’ll go higher once there’s some scaffolding up – after the cavity insulation and the outer skin of bricks have been added).

With the delivery of a lorry-load of concrete blocks around 09:00, work started on the blockwork walls above DPC.
The 100mm cavity (in the southern half the building) will be mostly filled with 90mm of insulation, leaving just a 10mm ‘residual cavity’ on the outside – so the blockwork needs to go up first, followed by the insulation (fitted around the wall ties), followed by the outer brick skin.
(The garage and storage rooms on the northern half of the building won’t be heated and don’t need the same level of insulation – so they’re having solid brick-and-block walls, without a cavity.)
