Outbuildings: Week 15, Day 1

Outbuildings: Week 15, Day 1

The ‘attic’ trusses for the ‘Hay Loft’ were deliberately installed last week – before any of the other roof trusses – so that the walls could then be built up around them. This saved hiring a crane to lift the trusses over the completed walls, relying on the tele-handler instead. These walls are now being built. The door opening into the gable end is starting to take shape, visible in the photo below. Another ‘lift’ of scaffolding will be required before too long.

The supports for the ‘rise and fall’ brackets for the guttering have been problematic to source but there was a delivery from the (newly-selected) guttering supplier today. Lack of these supports has been holding up progress on the rest of the corbeled brickwork around the building, since it’s best if they’re built-in as the walls go up.

Some of the roof trusses have been moved into the Courtyard – mostly to get them out of the way of where they were initially unloaded, and to access the ones stacked behind them. The Workshop (across the back of the overview photo above) and the Utility Room (on the right) are ready for these trusses to be installed – but the progress today was again out of shot to the left.

The build team are on holiday or doing training tomorrow so work will continue on Monday.
