Outbuildings: Week 6, Day 3

After some uncertainty about the weather (which was windy but much less wet than had been forecast a few days previously) the installation of the concrete floor slabs went ahead as planned.

The concrete pump was all set-up and ready by 07:00 then four lorry-loads of concrete were delivered and laid between 08:30 and 11:30.

The specification called for a power-floated finish so a team from UK Concrete Flooring Specialists Ltd were kept busy finishing the surface until sunset.

Final preparations for the pouring of the concrete floor slabs tomorrow. All of the insulation boards were laid then covered with another layer of damp-proof membrane. One result of that is that it’s not obvious that the Garage floor (at the far left of the overview photo) is a 150mm uninsulated concrete slab, whereas the other rooms are 100mm of concrete over 110mm of insulation.

Another inspection from Building Control, to check on the insulation before the floor slab gets poured.
