Week 50, Day 2:

• The Living Room ceiling has needed some attention to make the coving work properly with the LED lighting strips and the plastering team were back on site with the intention of adding more plaster in some areas to level it out. It soon became apparent it was out by more than they thought and the quickest and best way to proceed was to install some new boards with a thin skim of new plaster. Installing these below the old boards would have been difficult and would have lowered the ceiling by around 50mm so instead the plan is to remove the old boards and install new ones, taking care to ensure they are level.
• Some of the steps on the staircase also need attention which became apparent when making the templates for the glass balustrade panels – since the exposed end of the steps will be close to the edge of the glass it will be obvious if the spacing on the steps is different. To fix them they need to be re-welded, which means removing the plaster from around the end of the steps.
